25th JWHWLAO SWMBLA BASUMATARY: The Assam Football Association (AFA) on 29 December announced the 25th JWHWLAO SWMBLA BASUMATARY Assam Club Football Championship 2024 that will held in three loactions of Chirang (IOCL BGR playground, Bodosa Nwgwr- Bangaldoba playground and Rowmari Derhasar playground) and will start from 3 January 2024. Official team list and name of players is not yet live, but according to AFA the tournament will include many football teams from Assam. This event is organized by Chirang Districts Sports Association in collaboration with the Local Organizing Committee.
The AFA has also said ” As the heart of Football beats across Assam, we eagerly anticipate the rise of district champions who will compete for the ultimate glory of becoming the best in our beloved state”. Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary
Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary was a peace advocate and visionary leader, a prominent figure of the Bodo Community. He was born on 1 March, 1960 in Kokrajhar, Assam.
He was the President fo All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) during 1995-96. During his tenure as a president he played a important role in adapting a resolution to reject the Bodo Accord and rekindle the movement for a seperate state of Bodoland during the 28th Annual Conference that was held from 3-5 March 1996 in Karbi Anglong.
He died on 30 July 1996 when a unknown terrorist shot him at his house in Kokrajhar.
25th JWHWLAO SWMBLA BASUMATARY
The JWHWLAO SWMBLA BASUMATARY Assam Club Championship 2023-24 will begin from 3 January in Chirang. It will be a 11 day tournament where multiple teams representing various districts from Assam will take part in this event.
This was a local football tournament that was organized by Chirang District Sports Association in collaboration with Local Organizing Committee but from this year this game got a big stage as this event will be now organized in collaboration with Assam Football Association (AFA) on the occasion of 27th death anniversary of Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary.
